The More You Know

I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday!
I just want to share something I found incredibly interesting about eating a colorful diet in general and eating pomegranate and cranberries specifically.
These two superfoods have polyphenols that increase a bacteria found in the gut called Akkermansia, which has been shown to protect against cancer (anti-tumor effect) and metabolic syndrome (the driver of all chronic metabolic diseases).
You can’t get Akkermasia in a capsule as a probiotic so its important to give your body the building blocks it needs to feed this type of protective bacteria.
As I’ve said before (or everyday) all diseases begin in the gut so we have to act on behalf of the ecosystem that can make or break our health.
Sugar laden substitutes don’t work, if its shaped like a can, don’t eat it. Whole cranberries are tart and delicious. The amount of work it takes to reap the reward of the pomegranate is worth the effort according to your gut biome.
Cheers!
